In 1993, the SULU brand was launched, popularizing the "clochard style" in fashion. Kerstin Bernecker's designs were very popular from the start, quickly making it clear that a structural framework was necessary for the brand to grow successfully. At the same time, I started as managing director of the joint venture with Sabine Ruppert, who still works closely with Kerstin today.
My starting salary of 1,500 DM gross was only a fraction of my previous fee, but the following 20 years were filled with wonderful and highly successful experiences. My time at SULU inspired and shaped my ideas and knowledge in the fashion industry in a lasting way.
